In the dark

Red=no power.

Blue=water.

I am slowly sinking into a deep depression, Fish. We're still up here with no power - even our grocery stores don't have any. And now they're saying it's going to be "sometime after next Monday" before any of us are back on.

I'm EIGHTY miles from the coast, yet here we sit in the dark. (I'm typing this from a little warehouse we use for storage for my consignment store - which, by the way, still has no power).

I lived through Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which wiped us completely out. While that was certainly no picnic, this is worse. I am serious when I say that I'm about to lose it. Between the lack of power (and gas and food and ice) at home and the deep financial hole we're falling into with each passing day I have to keep my store closed, I've got one foot on that proverbial banana peel... :(

i know, babe, I know. I was crazy after 15 hours without power - I can't imagine the insanity you're going through.

I've been trying to get my dad back to Beaumont so he can get teams out there to fix roofs. They're saying the same thing powerwise over there. October 6th for some of them. My sister had lights today and then lost them again.

I wish now I hadn't cancelled my folks' reservation at the Crowne Plaza - you guys could have bunked down there for a few days. Hotel rooms are impossible to find, but they do say that all YMCAs are available as they get power to get people showers, recharged cell phones and laptops and all that.

You have my number, so call me any time if there's anything I can do. I'm here, I have power and gas, and this part of town has grocery stores. I'll bring you anything you need, just ask.
